My Creed

In my “private life”, I regard it as of the utmost importance that persons with disabilities be considered as recognised and accepted members of society as a fundamental right by as many people as possible. Our sporting achievements are preceded by just as hard and honest work as those of able-bodied people. As a private person, I have visited secondary schools through the “Living School Library” initiative together with representatives of other disadvantaged social groups, so that the children could ask questions which they could never have asked, or would not have dared to ask under other circumstances. Furthermore, for four years I have been the editor-presenter of a programme on Tilos Radio dealing with the everyday lives and points of interest affecting people with disabilities. In addition, I took over management of the Foundation for Limbless Children in 2018, of which I was a member in my childhood. Thanks to the foundation, together with many of my fellows I believed that I could be capable of anything, even with one arm or one leg. I should like to pass on to my young fellows all the good and help which I received in my childhood from this foundation, now with a 30 year history.

I trust that my vocation and perseverance can serve as a role model for my fellows with disabilityes, and not just for them, but for everyone.

Thank you for your attention, and I trust your response will be favourable.
